How to properly insert Auritech ear plugs

Inserting Auritech filtered ear plugs

From time to time we occasionally hear comments that Auritech ear plugs, and indeed all ear plugs, can be uncomfortable, or that they don’t seal well and suffer from sound ‘leakage’.

In almost all cases this is down to the fact that the user has not inserted the plug properly into their ear canal and, by following a few simple steps, this can be remedied, and you can enjoy the best protection and comfort.

Instead the design on all Auritech universal fit variants is tapered, to allow the plug to be inserted into ear holes of various shapes and sizes. It also ensures that the filter is positioned deep within the ear canal to ensure maximum protection. The soft, silicone-free, hypoallergenic thermoplastic material is flexible and contoured to provide a strong and comfortable seal when properly fitted but, like most things in life, there’s a technique that helps get the perfect fit. And, as always, practice really does make perfect.

The secret is to lightly grab the helix (that’s the outer bit of your ear, to you and me) and gently lift it up and back. Using your other hand, push the plug into the ear canal, while twisting it slightly. Letting go of the helix should then allow the ear to contract around the plug, creating a strong seal that will ensure that the harmful sounds you are looking to block out cannot get through.

If you get it wrong, don’t worry. Remove the plug and start again before undertaking your loud activity. Practice will make perfect and it’s really important to ensure that the Auritech plug is seated properly, especially if you are undertaking a very loud activity where hearing can be damaged in a short space or time, or where you have to wear a helmet – as an incorrectly seated earplug can cause discomfort as well as a risk of failing to insufficiently block out harmful noises.

After just a few attempts, fitting your Auritech universal fit earplugs will become second nature. And don’t forget, if you are a regular wearer, Auritech also offers a custom fit service, where you can have moulds taken to create bespoke filtered protectors designed especially for your ears.
